The timber has a golden yellow colour with a strong grain pattern, the trees are very slow-grown due to the extreme climate, resulting in tight growth rings and fine grain. Unlike the British larch, the knots in the Siberian species are light grey in colour and are less likely to fall out after drying and machining.
When used as cladding, Siberian larch is ideal for really exposed elevations or areas where there is likely to be physical damage, such as knocks or scrapes. Siberian larch is generally available in three grades, although significant variations occur between suppliers.
